Today (7th June) signals the end of National Volunteering Week and Watford Football Club’s Community Sports and Education Trust marked the occasion with a celebration event in The Gallery at Vicarage Road Stadium.

The evening put on by the Trust was a small way of thanking a number of individuals for their unwavering support to their local community. Whether it’s offering advice to participants on the Trust’s employment programme, Building Better Opportunities, or supporting a pan-ability football tournament, these volunteers have given their time and effort to the cause.

Of particular note was the number of volunteers to have helped with the research and delivery of Watford FC’s CSE Trust’s 25th Year Anniversary project, including the commemorative book circulated to all Watford FC season ticket holders.

There are volunteers of all ages and backgrounds involved in the Trust’s various activities, sessions and events. The Trust’s youngest volunteer at 12 years old, Ella, has gone from participating on the Premier League Kicks Dance session to helping deliver the younger age groups dance sessions and has now been nominated for a prestigious Pro-Action award. With the results being announced at a ceremony later this month, the Trust would like to wish her the best of luck!

Of course another volunteer Watford FC fans may be familiar with, is Supporter of the Year 2018 – Barry Freedman. Barry is regularly seen at Trust events promoting the charity, as well as driving the team mini-bus for the football and education scheme based at Westfield Academy.

As well as individuals, there has also been a fantastic commitment to volunteering from organisations. BT Volunteers have got behind the Trust’s delivery of the Premier League and BT’s Disability programme, whilst staff members from Hilton also dedicate both their time and knowledge to the cause.

Volunteers present at the celebration evening were Geoff Wicken, Tim Streeton, Jo Zanetti, Allan Flowers, Teresa Flaherty, Barry Freedman, Alfie Watts, Alex Norris, Josh Palmer, Ella Fox, Vimal Amin (BT), Shirlie Halladey (BT), Sofia Vakirtzi (Hilton) and Philip Slovodan (Hilton).
