Active Watford and Three Rivers is a programme which is aimed at working with Inactive people in Watford and Three Rivers, who are at risk from cardiovascular disease and/or mild to moderate mental health issues, helping them become active. We aim to do this by providing face to face consultations, delivered by our Health and Wellbeing Specialist lasting for up to a year, individuals will look at why they would like to become active, what barriers they might face, establish their goals and confidence levels and action plan with them for success.
Active Watford and Three Rivers is a partnership between Watford Football Club Community Sport and Education Trust, Premier League, Player Football Association (PFA), Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group, Watford Borough Council, Three Rivers District Council and Watford Community Housing Trust.
The Health and Wellbeing Specialist for Active Watford and Three Rivers will be based in local GP surgeries and Community Centres so people can access the specialist based in the heart of the community and target those most at need. These local organisations will make referrals to the service. As part of this process, a consultation will look at what activities or sports the client will enjoy so that they can be signposted on to local sports clubs, exercise classes, leisure centres, gyms or community exercise programmes based on their needs. Supported sessions which are led by the Health and Wellbeing Specialist will also be delivered.
You can self-refer into the scheme if you meet the following criteria:
- Are you over 16?
- Do you live in Watford and Three Rivers?
- Do you do less than 30 minutes of physical activity a week?
